Layup schedule

What 1,140 g is made of.

PLY 01

Carbon twill

2×2 weave, oriented by hand. The structure you see is the structure that holds.

PLY 02

Aramid core

Impact absorption layer. It failed twice in testing before the layup was final.

PLY 03

Matte anti-glare coat

Zero reflection signature. Sprayed, cured, inspected under raking light.

Ten seconds to swap a visor. We counted.

Macro film — surface inspection

OA-1 composite flight helmet, matte black with smoked visor, floating in a seamless bone-grey studio void

Fig.04 — Weave

2×2 carbon twill.

Inspected ply by ply under raking light. A misaligned tow rejects the shell.

Fig.05 — Skin

Matte anti-glare coat.

Zero reflection signature in direct sun. Sprayed, cured, measured — not polished.

Fig.06 — Gradient

Smoke, optically correct.

The visor tint is in the lens, not on it. No coating to scratch through.

Provenance — Telliskivi, Tallinn

Made in Tallinn. Tested until it failed, then made again.

Ostrom Aero is a six-person studio above a metal workshop in Telliskivi. Every OA-1 shell is laid, cured and trimmed in the same room it was designed in — one mould, one shell per day, no line to speed up. Certification samples go to the rig until something breaks; the break gets measured, the layup gets revised, and the next shell is better. That loop is the whole company.
